I started serious Investing Journey in Jan 2000 to create wealth through long-term investing and short-term trading; but as from April 2013 my Journey in Investing has changed to create Retirement Income for Life till 85 years old in 2041 for two persons over market cycles of Bull and Bear.

Since 2017 after retiring from full-time job as employee; I am moving towards Investing Nirvana - Freehold Investment Income for Life investing strategy where 100% of investment income from portfolio investment is cashed out to support household expenses i.e. not a single cent of re-investing!

It is 57% (2017 to Aug 2022) to the Land of Investing Nirvana - Freehold Income for Life!

  1. Uncle8888,

Not easy to pick individual stocks & do well over decades. Respect!

    Uncle8888 Principle 88:12 (51:7) ๐Ÿ˜‚

Also noteworthy is that you achieved FI for whole family while having a conservative allocation (<50%) to risky stocks.

Was there a time when you had substantially more than 50% of your networth (incl CPF & bank deposits) in stocks? Probably for a short period in the go-go mid-2000s just before GFC? ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. Yes. That was in 2007 with illusion of wealth in the stock market as net worth. Illusionary wealth as marked to market can disappear without warning

  2. CW,

    Real people; real story.

Not over-the-top hyperbole bullshit like, "If you think you can, you can!"

Hello, where's the action? Want to win lottery must also first buy the lottery ticket first!

    Not discouraging pour water either.

It shows a HDB heartlander's journey where if one is willing to put in the hours into the craft of trading and investing (he is hybrid plus panadol junkie rolled into one), it pays to be chasing rainbows.

Want to chase rainbows cannot scared getting wet or fear thunder and lightning OK?

I think his wife is happier the fisherman is out chasing rainbows than chasing skirts!

    LOL!

    1. When we went fishing at Batam Resort and we also saw old men either lone ranger or in group happily relax and having fun in Resort. 2020 no fun for these folks!

  3. Very colourful and beautiful charts. Each with a story to tell.

    Always looking out for them!

CW8888, I know you enjoy preparing and crafting them because I do enjoy preparing my own charts!

I do mine at the end of month and year to "report" to my dear wife on how our investment did. And I enjoyed the process and the resulting charts. The good performance was of course, the bigger joy.

Here's to a better and safer 2021 and more colourful and fun charts!
