I started serious Investing Journey in Jan 2000 to create wealth through long-term investing and short-term trading; but as from April 2013 my Journey in Investing has changed to create Retirement Income for Life till 85 years old in 2041 for two persons over market cycles of Bull and Bear.

Since 2017 after retiring from full-time job as employee; I am moving towards Investing Nirvana - Freehold Investment Income for Life investing strategy where 100% of investment income from portfolio investment is cashed out to support household expenses i.e. not a single cent of re-investing!

It is 57% (2017 to Aug 2022) to the Land of Investing Nirvana - Freehold Income for Life!

No Inflation Or Shrinkflation

Braised duck kuey chap still at $4!

Those hawkers who absorb the inflationary costs at their own expenses are likely to be older folks as a form of giving back to society or customers and also act of charity! Earn Less camp!

Most S'poreans want more than government’s relief package to fight inflation: YouGov

Read? Most S'poreans want more than government’s relief package to fight inflation: YouGov

"Expectation for greater support is higher among Gen X respondents at 88 per cent than their younger counterparts. Gen Z and baby boomers are most likely to be satisfied with the level of aid, with one in six or 16 per cent, in each group saying support is sufficient."

Hmm .. most baby boomers are retirees!

Recent conversation with two other senior retirees

What we have learnt from past two years of COVID crisis without overseas travelling expenses and living expenses for retirees in HDB heartland are affordable even in current higher inflationary phase; and the ideas of limited annual leaves e.g. 14 to 28 days of leaves to Get Away, Relax or Re-charge is not applicable for retirees.

When we were working and have applied for longer annual leaves; and if we didn't go overseas to get away, relax or re-charge from works; we might feel that these annual leaves were not well spent.

How many of us also thinking like that? Longer annual leaves we must go overseas to spend them!

Being Frugal??? (2)

Sunday, 17 May 2015

Read? Being Frugal???

5 years later ..... COVID-19 has "punished" Uncle8888 and showed him the way that small money can be saved by switching from drinking kopi-o kosong at his HDB's kopitiam to Nescafe Kopi-O Singapore Kopi at home.

Another saving in May is on $64 senior monthly concession pass. Probably, he just spend a few dollars on bus fares going to buy hawker food from Kovan and Ci Yuan.

CB Phase 1 on 2 Jun 2020; he is going back on his $64 monthly pass for June to roam again. LOL!

How to be minimalist?

Lessons learnt!

Happy New Year 2016!

With two working adult children and one is doing his NS, 2015 is a special year for Uncle8888 as this is the year that his three children don't eat much of his money. He will be able to estimate how much is the yearly household expenses for a couple like during his retirement.

His household expenses in 2015 has significantly reduced; but next year onward it will re-bound back as his youngest will ORD and continue with his uni study at SUTD.

Two Big Things for married men with kids only

Just For Thinking ....

You are married with kids and worse you are SINK (Single Income aNd Kids). You have to carry two Big Things on your shoulder every morning when you wake up.

  1. Your monthly mortgage payment
  2. Your Kids university education fund
What a huge relief when one day I discovered that I don't have to carry (1) on my shoulder anymore and then on another day I have dropped (2). Completely free from burden on my shoulder with no more Big Thing on my shoulder as SINKing parent. Finally, it is all over. Phew!
