Uncle8888 was the only one approaching the empty bus stop shelter and he saw .....

Gotcha???

Quickly look around for Gotcha moment.

Nobody leh!

He opened the purse. Got few red packets, tissue paper and some money. No ID!

Jialiat! How to return to the owner?

Pick up coin or note can keep. Right?

Lost property like wallet etc. has to report to Police. Right?

BTW; Uncle8888 was free and has some spare time to spend. He also had strong feeling that owner could have hurried up to the bus and left the purse behind and might come back to look for it.

So Uncle8888 sat very close to purse to give an impression that purse is his and continued to surf his mobile to pass time.

Not long; two old ladies stopped in front of him and spoke in Chinese "My purse".

Uncle8888 told her he has waited for her to come back; and lucky she came or else he has to go to Police post to report lost and found item and create paperwork for Police as it is unlikely for Police to find the owner of the purse. LOL!

Bus came! We took the same bus! Ha ha!

One man more senior than Uncle8888 got trapped in BP LRT station. This is second lucky encounter to show kindness with his newly acquired knowledge from ...

Spur 28 December 2019 at 01:00:00 GMT+8

There shld be an intercom (with camera) near the gantry gates. Can comms with the mrt control stn. They will send a guy via the next lrt to help lol. Portable wireless card reader cum resetter?

You can also reset using the top up machines in the lrt stn.

So Uncle8888 asked senior uncle to go to LRT top up machine next to the gantry to place his card.

Alamak! It just shows top up screen! LOL!

How to reset?

Next, Uncle8888 asked senior uncle to go to the Intercom to press for help. He pressed but seen like no response! Jialiat!

Lucky; one lady who was entering the gantry saw what we were trying to do and told us to go the LRT top up machine to press the Intercom button there for help.

Senior uncle placed his card on the reader and press the Intercom button for help.

Magically; the Reset screen shown up. We just followed the diagram and figured out which were the screen buttons to press to get the card reset.

Senior uncle was very happy and praised Uncle8888 as Good Singaporean! :-)

One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (7)

Read? One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (6)

This should be a rare incident happening at LRT station!

How to release someone trapped in LRT station???

Punggol Nibong LRT station which doesn't have a control room.

When Uncle8888 tapped out his card to exit LRT gantry gate; he did notice the man at the adjacent gantry gate encountered error when he tapped his wallet. This is common sight happening at any MRT/LRT gantry gate. Nothing unusual about it!

Uncle8888 went to location map board to locate the right staircase Exit leading to the HDB block that he was going to.

But when he passed by the gantry gates again; he saw that same man who was looking stunned as he was trapped inside LRT and probably thinking how to exit since he couldn't tap out due to card error.

Uncle8888 approached him and thinking how to help him. There is no control room to reset card! How?

Hmm .. then Uncle8888 asked the man to come to the Entry gate and he tapped his card to open the gate and the man quickly walked out!

Uncle8888 is on monthly pass so no issue of fare reduction. Okay lah! LOL!

But, now Uncle8888 knew that his card would have issue to enter as the card was not tapped out.

Hmm .. need to tap out!

So Uncle8888 from outside and stretched forward to tap his card on the Exit. Done!

All these actions certainly were captured on LRT station CCTV.

Hopefully; he doesn't get called by Police for investigation! :-(

Good deed ended up with troublesome!

Walking your path, your way!

Absolutely free and easy!

Some prefer to join walking group or form walking buddies.

Uncle8888's ex boss who has retired last year also found his walking buddy to walk on every Tuesday morning.

Pre and Post Retirement From Your Full Time Employment

Read? 1 in 2 Singapore residents feels stressed out by the thought of doing nothing: Survey

This is how Uncle8888 sees it after retiring from his full-time job since 30 Sep 2016.

This is somehow like ...

Pre-retirement from full-time employment ..

He is spending his time, energy, and effort to empty his glass every workdays and the next workday it get almost full again and repeat all over again.

Sigh!

Still half empty nearing the end of workday is damn stressful!

Sianz!

Looking forward to financial independence and then can choose to retire!

Post-retirement from full-time employment ..

Each passing day; he is just trying to fill up his glass to half-full and there is no reason to fully fill up the glass. Stressful??? Of course not if you can fill up half full! Good enough!

It has been long time since the last encounter with act of kindness!

One of the wedding party members accidentally dropped the glass cup of green vegetable on the void deck; never clean up but moved on with the party plan!

Argh ...

This kind auntie saw and worried that children playing at void deck later may not notice the broken glass and get hurt!

She helped to clean up!

Act of kindness!

Another ex-colleague whom he has never met for many years. He was head-hunted to join our competitor. That Time his company loved him so much and so willing to pay to cross over. 18 years later; he became a cost cutting tool to his company.

Two months ago he was retrenched in his early 50 or late 40. He has received 18 months payout i.e. one month for each year of service so he has fully paid 1.5 years for him to find replacement job. Not too bad!

For example, self employed like home-based tutors can sing song and sip coconut juice on whichever day they wish; but rental-based tuition centre tutors have to work at least X or XX hours for "free" before they do same like home based tutors who can sing song and sip coconut juice.

Food - Live to eat or Eat to live???

Read? Eat To Live or Live To Eat???

For common folks like Uncle8888 and especially when he slowly lost his taste and then completely lost his taste for many months after radiotherapy. He slowly regained his taste over the years but and never 100% as before!

Tasting nice food is your gift that many of you may never appreciate it!

Eat to live is about edible food.

Live to eat for common folks is about taste and smell and it should be looking good as well.

Why fine dining is so bloody expensive? It is more than just taste and smell. Right?

Banana cake is sold everywhere?

Why Banana at JB is so good and people are so willing to queue on hourly basis for the next batch of oven hot banana cakes.

Many will proceed to the nearby coffee shops to smell and eat a slice or two while the banana cake is still hot! We always do that.

Don't let the queuing effort goes into waste!

When we kept the leftover of banana cake in the fridge for next day breakfast. It didn't taste and smell that good anymore.

Same as freshly cooked meals!

Live seafood, fresh seafood, and not so fresh or worse rotting seafood.

Rotting seafood is still edible when they are deep fired or cooked it in curry or make it real spicy!

Taste and smell will always make that difference! Live to eat or Eat to live!

Eat is live is simple! When bad time hits us hard; we can survive by eat to live. Surely we can!

In the mean time enjoy your taste and smell! YOLO!

You Love Your Job But Your Company Doesn't!!! (3)

Read? You Love Your Job But Your Company Doesn't!!! (2)

As usual, Uncle8888 went for his "free" coffee black and before he could sit down. Someone came over to his seat and tapped his shoulder and called out his IC name!

One ex-colleague whom he has never met for more than 20 years.

He was retrenched at 43 during AFC 1998. After two years of looking for job, he finally landed Project Manager job with MOE; but he has to work long hours; and sometime has to burn weekends too.

After  one and an half year; he gave up after thinking why he has to work so hard for others (bosses?) and decided to become full time property agent working hard for himself.

Then came SARS; property market crashed big time!

He bought two properties at very good price for himself instead of finding clients to buy them.

These two properties finally leaded him to financial independence.

Both properties, one in Botanical Garden and other one in Tiong Bahru went enbloc!

His third property is currently in the process of enbloc!

Luck or unlucky to be retrenched?

Luck or unlucky to have sucky job?

Only hindsight then we know.

One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (4)

Uncle8888 likes to watch out for seniors when he is roaming across the island of Singapore in MRT stations.

This evening when he was walking towards Hougang MRT station gate; his quick eyes and mind caught one senior who was trying to enter the MRT station but the gate didn't open.

Those passing through the adjacent gate were too hurry to bother with this old man.

When Uncle8888 tapped out and checked what happened to this old man. He noticed he didn't have any card in his hand.

CW: Where is your card?

Senior: No card.

CW: Where you do want to go?

Senior: Ta Po

CW: No card. How to go?

Then old man took out some coins and wanted to buy card.

CW: Where you stay?

Old man: Hougang.

CW: You know how to go home?

Old man. I stay Hougang. Of course I know how to go home.

Old man: You work so late!

CW: Ya.

Old man: I got shop. You free. Can come and sit!

CW: We go home and take card.

So Uncle8888 told him we go home together and followed him.

Old man knew his way back to the shop. When we reached the shop; one man stepped forward to us and Uncle8888 told him that he found old man at MRT station and accompanied him back just in case he was lost!

Giving To Freegans. This Is So Much Better Than Having Them To Dig Into Bins

Read? One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (5)

This is NOT Uncle8888's HDB Block in Hougang!

Uncle8888 saw one old lady stopped at this Riser and she looked and searched the plastic bag for a while and then walked away with one plastic bag.

When she has moved far way from the Riser. Uncle8888 went to the Riser to take a look and still have one more plastic bag containing one parcel of good wrapped in brown paper. Not sure what is that!

This is HDB flat in Tiong Bahru!

It seen that this is common practice in the heartland to pass food to the freegans community living in the neighbourhood without having them to dig into bins.

Thumb up!

Dementia is scary!

This morning at Kovan MT station; Uncle8888 while going down the escalator saw this elderly man has been standing near the staircase till he reached the ground of escalator.

The elderly man looked lost.

Uncle8888 approached him and asked him in Chinese where he want to go. He replied Heartland Mall! Uncle8888 then pointed to the staircase and asked him to go up or take the lift while pointing to the lift!

He then replied in English that he is confused. He remembered going to Heartland Mall is by going up the escalator but there is no escalator going up.

Uncle8888 then tapped his shoulder and told him sometime the escalator changed direction and asked him to walk to the lift!

Scary!

Change of escalator direction can made some elderly folks confused over familiar path that they may have taken before.

One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (5)

Read? One Uncommon Act Of Kindness! (4)

For a long, long time; Uncle8888 has seen many time on top of this dry-rising main inlet Red cabinet is a plastic bag of food stuff; or sometime a bag of fruits like oranges, apples, etc.

Who are they putting these items and for whom?

These days Uncle8888 is sibei eng and seen loitering somewhere doing people watching while surfing the cyberworld on his mobile to consume up his data plan and don't waste it.

Who place these items?

The mystery was solved today!

The item was placed there by one senior woman who was walking with her little grandson(?).

When she turned the corner and walked back to the other side of the flat; Uncle8888 looked at her and she looked back as she might have noticed Uncle8888 was watching her action.

Next, Uncle8888 was wondering who will take this item?

He stayed longer there to find out who?

One old lady staying in the block checked the item in the plastic bag and immediately took it away with her!

Is this an anonymous act of charity of food distribution to anyone care to take the gift?

What do you think?
