China's loan to Petrobras may help pay most 2016 debt

[RIO DE JANEIRO] China's loan to Brazil's Petrobras announced Friday is for US$5 billion to US$10 billion and can be paid in cash or oil at China's request, and may help pay the bulk of the US$12 billion in debt the state-run oil company must pay this year, a source involved in debt talks told Reuters late Friday.

The loan from the China Development Bank was first agreed to in early 2015, and when added to a US$5 billion CDB loan made in 2009, increases the bank's debt exposure to Petroleo Brasileiro SA as Petrobras is formally known, to as much as US$15 billion, the source said.

Petrobras, the world's most indebted oil company, said in a securities filing earlier on Friday that the agreement included supplying Chinese companies with fuel, similar to a deal reached in 2009.

Under that deal Brazil guaranteed the supply of 200,000 barrels of oil a day to China's state oil firm Sinopec for the next 10 years.

Buy And Hold For Yield?

Investing over decades; it is more about our own personal  experience and how good we feel about our own investing achievement over the past decades.

The rest of stuff we read in the cyber world are nothing more than many writers writing about nice concepts and theories in investing that we should be doing this or that!

Are these writers also actual players on the ground?

How many of them really are real players on the ground playing hard ball themselves?

The Fact

Most of us after many years of investing, we should have already know most of these theories and concept of investing on how to achieve good return.

It is mostly the execution and performance of these executions that many of us are lacking.

Many will have nothing much to shout on their multi years CAGR on their investment portfolio as it is not double digit year-on-year compounding INVESTMENT return.

Uncle8888 has just read someone writing about Buy-And-Hold for yield is suck!

Let him check on his Top 3 and long holding years just for yield.

How suck can it be?

Investing over decades; it is more about our own personal  experience and how good we feel about our own investing achievement over the past decades.

Median household income at S$8,666

SINGAPORE: Households across all income groups earned more last year, with those in the lowest 30 per cent and top 10 per cent seeing the fastest real income growth, according to official data released on Friday (Feb 26).

Based on the Department of Statistics' annual Key Household Income Trends survey, the median household income from work rose to S$8,666 last year, up S$374 from S$8,292 in 2014. This is an increase of 4.5 per cent in nominal terms, or an increase of 4.9 per cent in real terms, after accounting for inflation.

Household income from work includes employer Central Provident Fund contributions.
From 2010 to 2015, the median monthly household income from work of resident employed households rose by 20.4 per cent cumulatively, or 3.8 per cent per annum in real terms, Singstat said in a press release on Friday (Feb 26).

Taking household size into account, median monthly household income from work per household member rose 5 per cent in nominal terms, or 5.4 per cent in real terms.

This increase came about amid a tight labour market, as well as an increase in the employer CPF contribution rates in 2015.

Speaking to Channel News Asia, Standard Chartered Singapore economist Jeff Ng said it was "positive" that household income growth outperformed GDP growth, which came in at 2 per cent for 2015.
Noting that household income growth was also boosted by government measures, such as the pioneer generation package, Mr Ng said: "Going forward I think further household income growth will rely on productivity growth."

CIMB Private Banking economist Song Seng Wun said that while Singapore's income growth will slow in tandem with a slowing global economy, it is likely to "continue growing at levels above annual GDP growth".

Unfortunately some don't need to be old. It won't matter once they are seriously sick. They may not have any chance to come back as  their peers have overtaken them.  That is why when we are well, strong and healthy; we will have to learn another lifelong skills like investing, etc.

The Story of the Horse Farmer

This farmer had only one horse, and one day the horse ran away.

The neighbors came to condole over his terrible loss. The farmer said, "What makes you think it is so terrible?"

A month later, the horse came home--this time bringing with her two beautiful wild horses. The neighbors became excited at the farmer's good fortune. Such lovely strong horses! The farmer said,

"What makes you think this is good fortune?"

The farmer's son was thrown from one of the wild horses and broke his leg. All the neighbors were very distressed. Such bad luck! The farmer said,

"What makes you think it is bad?"

A war came, and every able-bodied man was conscripted and sent into battle. Only the farmer's son, because he had a broken leg, remained. The neighbors congratulated the farmer.

"What makes you think this is good?" said the farmer.

CW8888: Our investing journey is no different from the above story. How do we know how we will end up or quit this investing game?

The secret to a great retirement?

Singapore Business Review

Read? The secret to a great retirement?

Portfolios need to be more diversified.

Singaporean investors are too reliant on cash savings to meet their retirement needs. However, a survey by multinational investment corporation Blackrock revealed that this fondness for cash might be the reason why Singaporean investors are failing to meet their targeted returns.

The Global Investor Pulse Survey showed that the average actual cash holding in Singapore is 48%, compared to the ideal cash holding of 36%. Meanwhile, the target annual returns on all savings and investments stands at an ambitious 8.4%.

Such reliance on cash is likely to continue into retirement, with a significant proportion of Singaporeans (38%) planning to hold their savings in cash upon retirement.

“There is a significant gap between current holdings and financial goals, which makes it even more challenging for Singaporeans to generate their target annual investment returns of 8.4%,” said Kevin Hardy, Country Head of Blackrock Singapore.

Additionally, saving money is ranked by 53% of Singaporeans as their top financial priority over growing wealth (50%). Allocation to other asset classes includes equities (18%), property (8%), bonds (5%) and alternatives (3%).

Such reliance on cash is likely to continue into retirement, with a significant proportion of Singaporeans (38%) planning to hold their savings in cash upon retirement.

“With a longer lifespan and rising cost of living, more needs to be done to make savings last through retirement,” Hardy noted.

Bond as asset allocation?

Why bonds?

Uncle8888 has zero bonds.

In Singapore, we have CPF OA and CPF SA; they are Bond-like.

He still maintains his CPFIS account for simple reason.

When stock market is too bearish; he will swap some CPF OA interests for dividends and when stock market is too bullish he will swap dividends to CPF OA interests.

Counting interests is no stress!

Better to count interests most of the time! Hee Hee!

Have Multi-baggers Sure Huat???

Hmm... so how many out of how many bought turned out to be multi-baggers? Just curious.

Okay. This is a simple question and the simple answer is 3.

But, on deeper thought, it is not the exactly right answer to this simple question. Why?

The stock market is cyclic so our multi-baggers are likely to be cyclic too.

See for yourself! What do you think after seeing them?

So, to really made real good money from the cyclic stock market we will require more than having multi-baggers. We will need to have higher yield when holding these multi-bagger over long run to compensate us for such holding.

See this table. What did you see?

Once we understand that the stock market is cyclic so will be our multi-baggers. We will need to profit from this cyclic nature of the stock market, we will need to do something that true retail value investors will hate to do; but non value investor like Uncle8888 will have no problem doing it. LOL!

Rounds after Rounds: Sell and Buy back!

With the three elements of capital appreciation, dividends, and realized gains, we should be able to ride and make real good money from future cyclic market.

Get the right answer to this simple question?
