O&G is cyclic. How about banks?
ReplyDeleteNo worries uncle, you bought when Mr Mkt was depressed ... still ok lah...
ReplyDeleteBanks are also cyclical --- usually tied to biz cycle. In SG they're mainly tied to property cycle.
I'm too lazy & dumb to crack my head analyzing individual companies; that's why I prefer to use broad index ETFs for longer-term trading.
It also shows otherwise how important is our market timing to make Entries into the market for whatever investing strategies e.g. value, growth-dividend or income. Once we get it wrong it is either we bite the bullet and suffer immediate heartache by cutting losses and never again or slow pain and collecting dividends as panandols with sunk cost basis. It may take decades of panandols to recover and then inflation kill it again.
