Can you put a $ value FOR a good night's sleep???

We need to know ourselves what keep us awake at nights?

After close to 60 years of sleeping across economics, financial and market cycles, Uncle8888 knows well enough what will keep him awake at nights?

1. Lack of money to pay bills.

2. The thought of being retrenched and out of job for a long time.

3. The thought of having to sell his stocks at market low to fund his family living expenses

That is why he tracks his family living expenses of five and forecast what is the likely future living expenses for two unemployed @ 2.5% inflationary rate for reasonable cash flow to fund his lifelong living expenses and put a $ value FOR a good night sleep.

If you have a worry problem, do these three things:

1. Ask yourself: “What is the worst that can possibly happen?”

2. Prepare to accept it if you have to.

3. Then calmly proceed to improve on the worst.”

(Carnegie 49)

Just do it!

We will regret on things we didn't do them rather on things that we have done to keep us sleeping at nights.

    1. The company that I set up for my futures trading shows an income number in a bracket last year - (21,527). For this year, that income number would still be in a bracket, perhaps twice that amount. Still have 8 trading days left before the end of 2014. Anything can happen. I live with the risk that my trading account can be wipe out in a single day.

2012 income, can buy 2 Mercedes S-class I think, if I had not lost it in a single day.

Next year? Won't know until the end of the year but I do know I still have a 100K capital to trade futures, as of now.

  3. CW,

    There you go!

We make a good tag team in Wrestlemania ;)

Like Mancho Man and Hulk Hogan?

Then we tear each other's' eyes out when there's no worthy opponents.

    LOL!

  4. Wow!
Can you compare Jesse Livermore with Warren Buffett?
We are all just suited in different class. One can not be good at every class, i suppose.

Another way of sleeping well at night is to always remember:-

"Keep me aware that it is not what happens to me in life that matters, but rather how i react to what happens."
Actually "it is not what happens to me in life that matters" because we really can't control what's going to happen to us the next moment, the next minutes, the next hour........
But after what it happens, can you take appropriate, remedy actions?
In another words you can't really control the "future" but you still have to know how to live now. If you want to live "well".

    1. temperament,

      You grasshopper you!

That prayer by an unknown Christian is indeed a universal "truth". It's same wine just packaged differently in other spiritualities

This is the essence and secret sauce of planning ;)

  5. For married guys with kids eating your money in big way and you are already financial independence or on your way to financial independence.

Give yourself a big pat on your back and High 5.

You have done it with so much LESSER.

    You deserve that respect!

    Well done!

  6. Yes of course more kids more financial burdens to bear. And if you still make good financially at retirement, you deserve utmost respect.
