If a person is a bei kambing and knows he is a bei kambing in certain products, that is enlightenment. In trading/investing, that is a big time saver and money saver. 

To be honest, I do not have the balls to trade bitcoin. It can fall 20% within a day. Imagine someone trading leveraged bitcoin futures last week. Futures keep halting due to limit-down. Even popular bitcoin exchanges like coinbase halted trading due to massive panic selling. The wait to get out will be a torture. Don't say only I scared. I think even the broker will be scared.


Uncle8888 is not into contra trading anymore. Chop fingers liao!

One morning when market seriously gap down; his broker called him in the morning to remind him of his outstanding positions to pay up or close by 5 PM or he would force SELL the next morning when market opened.

His broker called him again at 4 pm to repeat reminder!

If your brokers are not scare or worry; it may mean your positions are not large enough! Fact of life as traders!

Dementia is scary!

This morning at Kovan MT station; Uncle8888 while going down the escalator saw this elderly man has been standing near the staircase till he reached the ground of escalator. 

The elderly man looked lost.

Uncle8888 approached him and asked him in Chinese where he want to go. He replied Heartland Mall! Uncle8888 then pointed to the staircase and asked him to go up or take the lift while pointing to the lift!

He then replied in English that he is confused. He remembered going to Heartland Mall is by going up the escalator but there is no escalator going up.

Uncle8888 then tapped his shoulder and told him sometime the escalator changed direction and asked him to walk to the lift!


Scary!

Change of escalator direction can made some elderly folks confused over familiar path that they may have taken before.

How Did I Learn To Become Competent Retail Investor???

Learn from losers. Small losses can't teach us painful lessons as we are likely easily get over these small losses as they DON'T really hurt us much. This is those large losses that hit us so hard that we learnt what is investing in the stock market. We provide winners the money from our savings through hard earned income and we will take winning money from their savings too.

I am bemused when people spend so much time on ikan bilis or kacang putih concerns...

I mean its just 1.5% to 3%. OK, sometimes can be as high as 8%.

So happy! So much "savings"! You get lulled to pay for retail prices. 

Then you found out weeks later the item or service you recently bought is available with 50% discount... 


All this because they were distracted by the carrot others have placed in front of them?


Street smart customers often "checkmate" us retailers by offering to pay in cash as they know how much % retailers are paying the credit card companies for each customer credit card transaction ;) 


Try telling those who chase miles and cashbacks that they can also get cashbacks using plain old cash?

Why I Don't Leverage Up In The Stock Market?

Kiasu or Kiasi or his Mind and Money Management?

Short-term trading and long-term investing with his initial capital since Jan 2000 and no more adding of capital since then. It is already accumulated saving since Aug 1977 when he started working after NS. He has thought it very carefully. Enough is enough over the initial few years of investing in the stock market. 

There is no need to inject more saving into his investing capital to try make more money in the stock market. 

Being single household income and in his 40s; by limiting his risk exposure to the stock market is far more important than trying to "make" more money in the stock market.

He has been applying this risk and money management till today. 

His position sizing is limited to maximum 10% of his investing CAPITAL since Jan 2000. In this way; his investment portfolio can grow and diversity; but his risk exposure to any stock is consistent across market cycles.

When he has this sense of enough is Enough; Why leverage up? 

Capital is enough!.

Return is enough!

Why ask more?

Feeling of enough is never the same for many of us.
