I started serious Investing Journey in Jan 2000 to create wealth through long-term investing and short-term trading; but as from April 2013 my Journey in Investing has changed to create Retirement Income for Life till 85 years old in 2041 for two persons over market cycles of Bull and Bear.

Since 2017 after retiring from full-time job as employee; I am moving towards Investing Nirvana - Freehold Investment Income for Life investing strategy where 100% of investment income from portfolio investment is cashed out to support household expenses i.e. not a single cent of re-investing!

It is 57% (2017 to Aug 2022) to the Land of Investing Nirvana - Freehold Income for Life!

Is high dividend yield sustainable?

Someone asked : "How sustainable is 8% dividend?"

Highly sustainable yield of XX% can be found in the next Fat Bear!

When your investment horizon is 20 or more years, why so kan cheong of chasing high yield now?

Only for long-term investors who have Gut and Patient;  they will be rewarded in bigger way by Mr. Market in the long run.

This is how Mr. Market works!

  1. CW,

I don't always agree 100% with what you say (that makes diversity fun), but I must give you this compliment:

    You do inspire me!

Your record and journey shows that a retail investor/trader can "make it" if we play our cards right.

I do hope in the next 10 years, I can produce a similar chart like yours ;)

Got chance since I was lucky to pick up some core holdings during 2009. Now to sit tight.

Meanwhile, I just swing trade other opportunistic counters just like your round 1,2,3 trades. LOL!

    1. When our account size is large enough to generate retirement income for life, we should target 5% yield on cost, it is most likely to be sustainable over long run.

  2. 5 % YOC on $500,000.0 or $1,000,000? Still yield P/A may not meet your P/A expenses during a downturn.
Of course it is good to invest in this way because most probably your capital will last your lifetime and then some.
