Probably; he thinks the main difference may lie with the size of war chest and account. Long only retail investors will definitely require much larger account size and war chest than active long and short traders as long only retail investors will have to let both their cash and investment portfolio rotting heavily along their investing journey to earn those yearly dividends and some realized trading P/L. 

Efficiency and turnover of capital may be very low for long only investors. Unproductive capital at work?


BTW, there is no free lunch in the stock market. We need to sweat for it! Some time, it can be cold sweat!

With more residential projects set for completion in the coming quarters, property developers will need more time to clear their inventory of unsold units in previously launched developments, reported Singapore Business Review citing a Savills report.

Adopting the CCRs average monthly sales for the period of January to May 2015, and assuming there will be no further Government Land Sales (GLS), it will take about 12 years to clear the inventory of unsold units in projects under development now, said Savills.

It highlighted that the situation is even more serious for projects located away from the central region, since the GLS programme is generally focused on the OCR and RCR.

The time to clear the stock of present and future unsold units will be more than 12 years. Therefore, even if island-wide take-up rates double, it will take well over five years to sell down the inventory, the report stated.

While demand is expected to gather pace in the near future, this does not mean that the property market has returned to normal.

Comparing to many Uncle8888's peers when at that time HDB flats were so much affordable for average incomers; recently when he chatted with more peers on retirement planning; he realized that his war chest was so much bigger among his peers even though he has been a single household income earner with three children.

Uncle8888 now thanks the Past Him for the last 30 years effort for NOT buying a car while most of peers did and also NOT upgrading to a bigger home despite nagging from Home CEO. 

Now his CPF OA is pui pui and sibei song!

Some of his older peers are now thinking hard of down-grading to free up more retirement fund while Uncle8888 is thinking of where to travel next year?

When Uncle8888 was approaching near the Peak at Yang Ming Shan; he heard someone singing loud and happily. Who is singing there?

When the singer saw me he stopped singing; but Uncle8888 began to praise him for his singing and exchanged some gestures. 

He looked at me and asked: "You from China?"

"No. I am from Singapore!"

"Good. Singapore. Many years back I went there. Nice country!"

After some small talks with him; he told me he lives there and came up to the mountain for afternoon nap, relax and sing to his heart!

Wow. Financial independence and happy man!

No need to work on Wednesday afternoon.

He then offered to take our camera and suggested a few nice spots on the mountain peak to take good photo. He said he knew this mountain too well and he is the famous professional photographer taking best photo shots of mountains in China and Taiwan. He has another photo exhibition coming up next year on 1 Feb 2016.

Hmm .. Famous professional photographer!
