I started serious Investing Journey in Jan 2000 to create wealth through long-term investing and short-term trading; but as from April 2013 my Journey in Investing has changed to create Retirement Income for Life till 85 years old in 2041 for two persons over market cycles of Bull and Bear.

Since 2017 after retiring from full-time job as employee; I am moving towards Investing Nirvana - Freehold Investment Income for Life investing strategy where 100% of investment income from portfolio investment is cashed out to support household expenses i.e. not a single cent of re-investing!

It is 57% (2017 to Aug 2022) to the Land of Investing Nirvana - Freehold Income for Life!

Can We really Hedge With Cash Across Market Cycles?

Singapore Man of Leisure3 March 2020 at 13:25:00 GMT+8

Rainbow,

Read? Hedging with Cash

I'm not as organised as CW.

One day when I very free I may write and e-book on Trading 101 ;)

What is the cost of hedging with cash over market cycles?

His own data points shows this ...

His highest (peak) annual cash flow achieved over the last 20 years was in 2014.

So, he will know what is the total ROC that is required to level up each of the following year from 2014 to 2020 to this Peak in 2014 is currently about 54% for the next Bear market if it happens in 2020.

Is this an impossible ROC to achieve?

Hmm ...

  1. CW,

That's the advantage of experience and having our own track record ;)

What others say or do may not apply to us - they shoe size 11, we shoe size 7.

Someone who is 100% vested, never missed a single dividend but sitting on unrealised losses would be feeling different from someone who is sitting on 30-40% cash rotting in the bank right now....

Our own feet, our own journey.

  2. Uncle8888,

I see that the fire to climb the mountain is still strong in you.

You're just waiting for the helicopter to fetch you up there! LOL!!

Leave the gungho mountaineering to the young ones! Some don't even believe in safety ropes... :P
