Counting The Opportunity Costs Of Not Staying Fully Invested In The Stock Market

What it will take for the War Chest to cover those missing (illusion) wealth in the stock market from 2010 to 2023?

Tap 3 : Yearly Return (War Chest Interests, Dividends and Divestment Gains/Losses) on Own Investing Capital (since inception on Jan 2000)

Plan and Goal is useless???

It is about 75% cash flow return on current level of War Chest over the next 4 years!

Hmm ... market crash over the next 2 to 3 years should help to narrow down this Gap!

  1. CW,

I think you too free or too bored...

If you want to go to the realm of opportunity costs, might as well calculate how much more of the missing (illusion) wealth you could have added to your war chest by SELLING near the top for Keppel and DBS...

Calculate how much you need to make-up over the next 4 years for these monies left on the table!?

    Why stop there?

Can also calculate if you had taken 2 bites of the cherry and upgraded to condo and now dowgraded back to HDB 4 room, how much you existing HDB 4 room has to appreciate to "make-up" the illusory opportunity costs? LOL!

Over thinking in opportunity costs is one quick way to the mad house!

    Goals and plans are uselsess?

Yes, if they are like the ladder leaning against the wrong wall...

  2. My wife and me choose to live a more private life then social life after we had tried to live a more social life.

U can say we are in the group of anti-social people if we have a choice.

We feel we are more suitable to a quiet private living than social living.

Hence i always feels the opportunity cost of not renting out of our spare rooms for all these years.

We just can't bring ourselves to have our privacy we like in exchange for 40 to 50 years of lost rental spare rooms income.

(What an expensive opportunity cost, u must think?)

Thank God we have been able to choose.

    2. Of course.

But it take donkey years of investing in the stock market and saving to achieve that for average Joe's earning power.

And it is only a wee tiny place.

Still i think might as well do "Reitings".

It is so much better i think except Brick & Motar very hard to go to ZERO value.
