Thank you so much for what you have done for Singapore!
Father of Singapore as a Nation. Father of PAP as the Ruling Party!
Rest In Peace. Amen!
I have been voting for PAP since 21 and will vote for PAP in the next GE in Aljuined GRC!

This morning, I reached the Parliament House at about 09:15. A large crowd was there much earlier than me so I have to settle for a spot somewhere near the bridge; but close enough to see the entrance to the Parliament House.
Those people at the front were asked to squat or sit so the back row can have their view too. I am sitting behind the man in black shirt.
Old man cannot squat too long so I have to sit down and wait.
First time in my life sitting on a road side. OMG!
I walked to the opposite side via underground tunnel to join the Queue at the Parliament House.
I joined the Queue at 09:58
Under the hot sun for hours, WOW! We appreciate the kindness from Fullerton Hotel for a cup of ice cool water.
Thank you. Fullerton Hotel!
The not so nice one. You see what? Why I said so.
I left the Parliament House at 14:06
So it is slightly more than 4 hours in the Queue under hot Sun. It is hot until I no need to go to Gent for more than 4 hours despite drinking one bottle of water and one cup of ice cold water. LOL!

ReplyDeleteHi CW,
ReplyDelete4 hrs plus is not a short wait but meaningful knowing why u are there. I too give my vote to PAP since I am 21.
My FT colleague from China went to pay his due respect to Mr. Lee at the Parliament House. He said his queue time is about 3 hrs.
ReplyDeleteI told my two much younger colleagues yesterday that I went through the tough years and I see my own transformation from being poor sometime without a single cent in my pocket to buy food during recess time to becoming financial independence without worry about more expensive choice of meals at restaurant.
ReplyDeleteSame like investing in blue chips, how many think that they can be dividend income stocks just like your commonly known S-REITs.
We can believe in our experience; but can we trust others?
We have some CPF haters who are shouting Return Our CPF; but I love my CPF. May be next year this time in Mar 16, I may decide to tell you Why?
Delete10 hours wait today!
DeleteSalute to the patience folks enduring the heat !
It is like now or never.
DeleteThat man who was queuing next to me was right in saying the queue on the following days will be longer when media started reporting long queue. It is very human nature! That is why he chose the very first day to queue.
DeletePriority queue - 30 minutes finish the affairs.
ReplyDeleteMust accompany kid in stroller or elderly in wheelchairs though.
One friend queued at 9.40pm (hearing about 30 min queue at 5pm earlier from another friend) yesterday, along with 2 young kids, finally gave up 1 hour later
Deletewhen notified that the waiting time is 6 hours,
even the stroller queue had stretched to 4 hours! :-(
ReplyDeleteSINGAPORE: The State Funeral Organising Committee has announced a temporary closure of queue for those wishing to pay last respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew lying in state at Parliament House.
"Since the lying in state began at Parliament House on 25 March 2015, there has been a sharp increase in the number of visitors daily. The current estimated queue time to enter Parliament House is now more than 10 hours. As of 27 March, 11 pm, more than 290,000 have paid their respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at the Parliament House," the committee said.
"We would like to accommodate as many as possible in this overwhelming outpouring of respect and love for Mr Lee Kuan Yew. However, to ensure safety of individuals due to the large crowds and to limit the physical discomfort of the long wait, especially for the elderly and young children, the queue line will be temporarily suspended. We are appealing for patience and understanding as we work to ease the situation. We will inform the public when the queue is open again," it added.
"Those wishing to pay respects to Mr Lee can also do so at People’s Association community sites at 18 different locations around Singapore.
"We apologise that the queue has to be temporarily suspended but we seek the public’s understanding that this was decided to protect the safety and well-being of those wishing to pay respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew."

ReplyDeleteQ: You talked earlier about how, you know, if the mainstream media continues to publish untruths you will go after them if it’s libellous.
LKY: Yes, of course.
Q: But at the same time, what’s already out there on the Internet is defamatory, far more damaging.
LKY: What’s out on the Internet everybody knows can be utterly scurrilous and no action can be taken, because it’s very difficult.
Q: Some of them are very open about their identity.
LKY: But they are worthless people, they’ve got no money. You take them on, you waste money and then what will you get in compensation? Nothing.
Q: But doesn’t what they say chip away at the credibility and the integrity of government?
LKY: No, I don’t think so. After a while people understand it’s just RAMBLING and RANTING on the INTERNET.
