Dear friends,

My family and I would like to express our thanks for the many kind thoughts and messages extended our way over the past weeks, particularly in your generous sharing of stories and memories of our dad.

Our dad self-taught himself investing, and we still recall early days of him poring over library books to learn as much as he could about the subject. This blog has been a platform for him to share his experiences and views, and over the years had brought about much friendships, camaraderie and a healthy amount of bantering (all in good fun!)

We think that our dad had achieved most of his life goals, and we are very much proud of what he has accomplished as a doting husband, loving father, and an individual full of zest for life.

We hope that this blog remains as a resource for those seeking out views and a different perspective on investing and financial planning.

Actually; Uncle8888 is also into passive investing after Point X and just repeating Active/Passive investing across market cycles to another Point X for next batch of Touchstones.

Index ETF like STI ETF is nothing more than outsourcing to fund manager to do review and re-balancing every quarter based on survivorship of index components where last dying stock is replaced by the highest in the Reserve List waiting to join the Index.

Uncle8888's self indexing portfolio consists of Multi-baggers, Touchstones and Sardines. 

Sardines are slowly replaced by the next batch of Sardines when opportunity rises while Multi-baggers and Touchstones are self-survival and retained for passive income. This self indexing portfolio after 2016 has then transformed into Passive Income Self Indexing during his retirement where the self index portfolio pays out 100% of its earning.

Wah! Uncle8888 was very surprised when he read  If I am a dividend investor, this is what I would do….

4. No earn no sell especially for dividend stock. Keep long term, no stop loss policy because point 1 is followed.

This rule is contrary to what most people would do. No cut loss policy.

I have learnt this rule from Createwealth8888. If you didn’t do any leverage/plan allocation well (Rule 3) and only buy good stocks that let you sleep well (Rule 1), there is no need for you to cut loss.

Price drop, just hold and collect dividends as Panadols. Throughout the years, treat the dividend (or simply use the Trading around Core Strategy – Rule 5 below) to reduce the average cost of your shares. The worst case is stock goes to zero or in most case, your average cost will be reduced over time.
