CW,
Lol!
To focus on money management, you need to have money first...
That's why snake-oils have to prioritise Method as that's what their customer base wants - HOW to get rich!
Not how to protect your wealth.
Then again, we have also been transparent when we were climbing up the mountain, we also never focused on money management...
You with your contra trades and over staying your welcome in 2008; me with my margin trading; while others so heavy into properties until banks savings only a few thousand...
Weren't we glad we didn't know what cannot be done then!?
Heng ah!

CW,
ReplyDeleteIts really hard for me to give advice when people ask how they can take sabbatical from full time work at age 44 like me???
How to make them believe when I started my journey of investing and trading, its was just pure unadulterated GAMBLING!!!
It's all LUCK!
You think entrepreneurs knew EVERYTHING when they started out?
Many do; few survive: Sea Turtles
Everything that comes out of mouth now is just Survivor Bias bullshit!!!
What I do today (strolling down the mountain) is totally NOT THE SAME as how I started (climbing up the mountain)...
The biggest turning point, financially speaking for me, was to join my previous company where I've stayed for 14 years. A company that culturally had the perfect fit for me - and know how to appreciate and discover my talents to "fly" under waster as a penguin; not as a bird in the air like so many other previous companies expected of me!
But that's not what those who are struggling in their day jobs want to hear.... Especially when they are hoping they can use investing or trading to "escape"...
Having a well paying job that I liked made the investing/trading journey a lot less depressing (and frightening) when I were bleeding in red ink after the 2000 Nasdaq massacre...
Not when there's fresh funds coming in every month ;)
CW,
ReplyDeleteI come do cheerleading for you!
Every morning you wake up, you have struck the lottery!!!
Did your doctors expect you to live past your 65th birthday?
Remember you shared with us you almost went to sell salted duck eggs just from going to the toilet some years back?
The toilet is the most dangerous place for old fogeys like us!!!
True! A number of my senior colleagues broke their bones either middle of the night or morning toilet urgency. Rush for it or wet their pant!
DeleteHope that we can be less fearful of covid for each passing day and time flies faster! :-)
ReplyDeleteCW and Temperament,
ReplyDeleteToilets are dangerous home hazards. I fell once but luckily, I'm still relatively young for bones to take the blow. I have stopped using one of my home toilets for bathing to leave it dry for the elderly.
Temperament, didn't know you're 73 already. Take care! Body getting fragile.
Stock market makes your mind active and keeps dementia away.
To be honest, I am also thinking out for myself. If elderly falls and become paralyzed, I will be in for deep deep trouble for a long long time to come.
ReplyDeleteTemperament, wish you good health. Wife and I had every booster 2 weeks ago, ancients like us just have to pray the worst of this pandemic will pass sooner
