Uncle8888 smiles when he read this from investment blogosphere ..
If I can maintain or do better than June 2021 profit consistency for the next 12 months, then I can start to consider switch to become full time stock trader.
If you have successfully switched from 9-5 jobs -> Full time trader OR unsuccessfully going to switch from Full time trader back to 9-5 jobs, would like to hear your stories / experiences / tips :)
It is like seeing his own past. In 2007, he had earned more than his boss and was thinking he could quit his job as employee soon and do full time trading! LOL!

CW,
ReplyDeleteDon't like that leh!
Just because you cannot make it as a fulltime trader, does not mean everyone else can't too ;)
The strength of youth is they don't know what cannot be done!
If youth knew what we know, who would want to become fulltime trader!?
Crash got sound one.
How else to know whether you belonged to the 5% club of profitable traders!? (Polite we say 10%)
Young start journey of self discovery early. Especially single, no wife and kids.
After 2 years cannot make it what's the worst that can happen?
Just go back and do what you did before.
But at least now you've got it out of your system; don't have to go through life regretting what might have been...
;)
Smol,
DeleteEh, you would say this as short term trading is a zero sum game. As a hunter, what's not to like in a target rich environment? :P
To borrow your phrase ... You haar!! LOL
Based on 2 data points -- one a Uni friend in the 1990s, and the other a cousin in 2010s (both couldn't make it):-
For those who try trading for a living (pay bills, support children & old parents etc) ... it'll be a lesson in anti-fragility, coz 95% (or more) CMI.
As long as youngsters are mentally prepared that they'll lose out 3-5 years in terms of career if they CMI after 1-2 years of trying, then sure ... go ahead!
Fail or succeed, it will also make for interesting cock & bull story telling in the future! :)
Spur,
DeleteI'm not cheerleading trading or dissing trading. I've shared only 5% of traders can make consistent profits ;)
That is not remotely snake-oil OK? LOL!
Its like our daughter going out with a "loser" of a guy.
The more we object, the more our daughter will cling to the guy...
Somethings in life we have to discover for ourselves. Even if our daughter would come back home divorced, pregnant with another kid in tow, and a big broken heart years later...
Now is NOT the time to say, "I told you so!"
What's the alternative? Disown our daughter for not listening to what we want?
The world is full of people giving "well meaning" unsolicited advice.
Some can't do it; don't want others to succeed (Dog in the manger).
Some can't do it; want others to fulfil what they can't (Yes mommy and daddy dearest, I'll do whatever you say!)
Some like to tell others what to do; some let's others tell them what to do (The man, his son, and the mule).
Its like entrepreneurship - those who got the DNA would be doing it already! Where got go round asking for "permission" or finding out the "odds" of success?
Those who can't, will find 1001 excuses NOT to do it. Safety net this, backup plans that...
Smol,
DeleteGood thing with wfh is that many can do almost full-time trading without quitting day job.
That's already a big safety net in place lol.
From the size of midday crowds at my nearby reit-owned shopping mall, I suspect there's a lot of snake-eating & underutilized bandwidth among the population! ;)
Spur,
DeleteShh... I'm sure many are "abusing" the work from home scheme.
Some trade their brains out; some watch Korean or Chinese dramas all day.
Nothing is free.
Employers will soon realise if their employees can work from home, what's the difference if the employee is working from home in Bombay, Shenzen, Ho Chi Mingh City, JB, and Surabaya???
Payback is a bitch!
If I'm still in the corporate world, I'll fight tooth and nail to work in the office.
Out of sight; out of mind.
