Heng ah! Over 22 yrs across market cycles of Bulls and Bears as Panda investor in boring and uninspiring SGX; Uncle8888 has not lost his own hard earning saving (Total Capital) at last GFC 2008/2009.
It will be even harder for him to lose his own hard earning saving (Total Capital) since he has switched his investing strategies as retiree depending on his 1MCPF and 1MSGX for his retirement income for life and also moving slowly towards to the Land of Investing Nirvana!
CW,
ReplyDeleteThere are youths and old fogeys (count me one of them) out there who have not experienced STI below 1,000 - 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.
OK, STI below 2,000 points I was there with bloodied fingers.
2003 is a memorable year - properties and stocks all super cheap looking back... Wished I was more aggressive and used margin with stocks though ;)
It seems with the benefit of "crash got sound", you also don't believe a word of that bullshit sales spin from snake oils telling new "investors",
"Don't wait for a correction to get vested!"
LOL!
Uncle8888,
ReplyDeleteI've been stress testing the downside & the upside.
Opportunity gains from avoiding losses, and opportunity losses from missing gains. Headache! LOL.
When to take more profits off the table can also be stressful! LOL!
DeleteYeah, I harvested aggressively over the past 3 months. Now got 7 digits rotting away in warchest.
DeleteGoing to do more exercising, watching netflix, zen meditation & napping to cure itchy fingers lol.
I will chiong ah. Lol...Vested since 1990. Win lose win lose no end until up the loli I think. Lol.
ReplyDeleteWith 22 years of active market experience, it's hard to lose your total capital. 22 years of experience, 22 years to grow your capital and much lower family expense with fewer dependents, it's hard to lose big financially. I'm not surprised you're moving towards the Land of Investing Nirvana :)
ReplyDeleteAs a retiree, besides monitoring markets, also need to monitor health actively liao.
Threw $50K into the market last night. Maybe another $50K after the FOMC meeting on Wed night.
ReplyDeleteSo much for controlling itchy fingers! LOL
Steady!
