Keppel Corporation positions Infrastructure Division for growth

Newly incorporated entity, Keppel Infrastructure, will consolidate resources to invest in, own and operate competitive energy and infrastructure solutions and services

Keppel Corporation Limited (Keppel Corporation) is pleased to announce that Keppel Energy Pte Ltd (KE) and Keppel Integrated Engineering Ltd (KIE) will be reorganised under a newly incorporated entity, Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd (Keppel Infrastructure) with effect from 2 May 2013.

Keppel Infrastructure will drive the Group's strategy to invest in, own and operate competitive energy and related infrastructure.

Keppel Infrastructure, while tapping the expertise and technology of its engineering business, will continue to grow its power and gas, environmental and energy efficiency businesses.

Mr Choo Chiau Beng (朱昭明), Chief Executive Officer of Keppel Corporation said, "Bringing the two companies together under one umbrella will focus our efforts to strengthen our infrastructure business. This move will also spur efficiencies, streamline operations and enable us to energise our efforts to build sustainable and scalable businesses in the Infrastructure Division."

Keppel Infrastructure will have three main businesses. It will grow the company's existing power and gas business, leverage the company's WTE technology to develop, own and operate WTE facilities, as well as provide technology solutions, and seek out complementary opportunities in the energy value chain to meet the growing need for competitive energy.

Dr Ong Tiong Guan (王中元), currently the Managing Director of KE and Deputy Chairman of KIE, will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Keppel Infrastructure with effect from 2 May 2013.

Mr Choo added, "Tiong Guan, who has been with Keppel for more than 13 years, has built the Group's power and gas business to be a significant contributor to the Group. I am confident that with his business acumen and proven track record, he will be able to leverage the momentum and grow Keppel Infrastructure."

Dr Ong said, "Through this reorganisation, Keppel Infrastructure will consolidate expertise to strengthen execution capabilities and focus, as well as to seek out opportunities to increase participation in selected markets."

Dr Ong's career spans across the energy industry from engineering and contracting to investment and ownership of energy assets. Dr Ong was Chairman of SEPEC (Singapore Electricity Pool Executive Committee) for the FY 2002/2003. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Monash University, Australia.
