Read? Most S'poreans want more than government’s relief package to fight inflation: YouGov
"Expectation for greater support is higher among Gen X respondents at 88 per cent than their younger counterparts. Gen Z and baby boomers are most likely to be satisfied with the level of aid, with one in six or 16 per cent, in each group saying support is sufficient."
Hmm .. most baby boomers are retirees!
Recent conversation with two other senior retirees
What we have learnt from past two years of COVID crisis without overseas travelling expenses and living expenses for retirees in HDB heartland are affordable even in current higher inflationary phase; and the ideas of limited annual leaves e.g. 14 to 28 days of leaves to Get Away, Relax or Re-charge is not applicable for retirees.
When we were working and have applied for longer annual leaves; and if we didn't go overseas to get away, relax or re-charge from works; we might feel that these annual leaves were not well spent.
How many of us also thinking like that? Longer annual leaves we must go overseas to spend them!
CW.
ReplyDeleteI belong to Gen X.
Its "easier" for me as I only have parents, no children.
But for my peers that are sandwiched between ageing parents and grown up children still in tertiary studies or have just started working...
Spot on!
I tracked my expenses in Athens for 2 years just for fun. Stopped doing it when its clear the biggest annual expense is travelling.
Would I stop or cut-down vacations in Europe?
No.
So what's the point of tracking my expenses again?
LOL!
No point in avoiding drinking "atas" coffee outside when we die, die must travel overseas 2 times a year.
How come no one Indian Chief others to delay gratification by NOT taking overseas vacations every year? You know, the money saved and invested, one day can buy a big red Ferrari!!!
Just in case someone don't get its sarcasm... Don't do it!
You'll be a frog in the well and forever single - who wants to marry a miser like you!?
What's the point of marrying rich when that rich person is unwilling to spend a single cent on you? (Unless that rich person is 90 years young, wink)
Uncle8888,
ReplyDeleteThere was one time I used the bulk of annual leave to create 5 months of 4-day workweek for myself lol.
For civil servants & GLCs, leave has gone down over the years. 28 days only for old birds & 40 days (poly & uni lecturers) are extinct.
Imagine accumulating enough leave for 3 months holiday! Too bad my old boss used to say, if I can do without you for more than 2 weeks, you better submit your resignation letter together with your leave application lol.
But with WFH, many have "earned" many days of extra leave. Use for running errands & local relaxing. Overseas relaxing then use official leave hoho. ;)
