"When you see your favourite blogger bought something e.g. a few bunches of banana and that doesn't mean it is a good time for you to buy a few banana too.
Your favourite blogger may be a 800 pounds Gorilla sitting on high level of cash and gobbling up a few bunches of banana here and there is not going to cause any problem.
But, to a small Monkey on low cash level is different. Just eating up one bunch of banana may cause indigestion if got it wrong. In the stock market, small Monkey can't behave like giant Gorilla."
Real happening in ex-famous cbox where most of the monkeys in that cbox were feeling down due to lack of bullets to hoot more in 2009. This Gorilla-cboxer kept buying and buying. When the market and economy finally recovered; he showed us his 6 digits passive income! LOL!
Uncle8888 personally learnt this real life lesson about investing in the stock market on the ground! LOL!

Hi CW,
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you have purchased any treasury bills (T-bill)? It is hot news nowadays with yield hitting 4.19% in latest issue. Many people are putting their money into T-bills.
In Oct, I followed the crowd and moved about $190K of my warchest to buy the 6-month T bills with yields ranging from 3.32% to 4.19%.
With the yield above 4%, it makes sense to deploy CPF OA funds to buy the T-bills but need to physically go to the banks to make the application to buy. Last Saturday I did just that. To test water, I used $300,000 of my OA funds to bid for the upcoming T-bills. If successful and if the yield continues to stay above 4%, I will deploy the rest of my OA funds into it.
Not applying for T-bill yet
DeleteHi CW,
DeleteThere is another alternative to T-bills for CPF funds. UOB fixed deposit promotion is at 3.9% for 1 year for $1M deposit and above.
Thinking of asking my wife to deploy her OA funds into this UOB FD. Need to go down to the bank to do this though, cannot do online. Maybe can also get private banking status and enjoy the perks.
