3% p.a. yield is not too difficult; but many choose to pay fund managers to take the shits for them. Fund managers are Dung Beetles? They play useful role. :-)
Like it or not. Investing is a Game of Strategy like Chess!
Uncle8888 was once a crazy Chinese chess player and probably that is why he also thinks too much in investing.
For low yield like 3% p.a. ; one doesn't need complex strategies to meet this goal over the next 15 to 20 years in the stock market.
There will be enough opportunities in the market to meet your investing goals at the end of your investing journey.
CW,
ReplyDeleteYou machiam snake or what?
Anyhow put words into my mouth...
Dung beetles are those who follow "elephants" and lap up on the trail of dung that's left behind.
Of course they are useful!
Just like ants, who do you think does the "recycling" work in nature?
How on earth Fund Managers now get associated with dung beetles!!!???
Fund Managers are shepherds.
If I land owner, I would rather spend my time on wine, women, and song. Outsource the money making work to shepherds ;)
The problem is that the excellent shepherds only want to work with mega-landowners. Nano-landowners like me they not interested : (
Chess is good training for investing - it's about pattern recognition :)
If we just want 3% return and can wait 20 years don't touch our investment, I would have thought our CPF shepherd does a fine job.
Can use CPF to relocate funds into our place of abode or 2nd investment/rental unit too!
I know you are more into equities. I lean on properties even though I have no investment/rental units just yet - especially for my old age.
I've never experienced a property crash of 50% or more in Singapore. Has anyone?
Can't imagine I 65 or 75 still have to worry about 1997 or 2008 > 50% market crashes...
Well, that's for "not so young" dung beetles to find out for themselves whether their hearts can take it ;)
