Yin and Yang of Portfolio

For long only, retail investors, Bull is Yang. Bear is Yin.

Stocks are Yang in Bull and Yin in Bear.

Cash is Yin in Bull and Yang in Bear.

In portfolio management across market cycles of Yin and Yang; we will need to counter the Yang with Yin and Yin with Yang.

  1. more yin or more yang is better, this will be for one to decide for himself.

i reckon after a longer time frame the investor will achieved a harmonious yin and yang state which will projectile him into higher levels of investment realm

  2. i like this,

    太乙生两仪(阴阳)
    两仪生四象(太阴、太阳、少阴、少阳)
so maybe you can talk about the 四象,the emerging trend vs the mainstream trend (balance trend) of cash and equity.

10% correction, cash go to equity, cash become 少阴?

    LOL? sorry can't help myself

  4. Hi bro8888,

Human vs financial assets also have Yin and yang ;) when the yang recedes, the Yin must take over. Before the yin is powerful enough, the yang must protect and build up. Proper knowledge of yin and yang makes u a powerful kung fu practitioner, able to handle most of the wu lin's troubles ;)

    2. temperament,

      No interest in Finance can!

Have you heard of faith based investing?

You know the kind that swears stock market always go up one in the long term (just don't mention Japan), and "average" 8% a year with dividends re-invested?

The problem is no one has yet to reply to a pagan like me why there's no money back guarantees on such products???

And best of all, they all come with disclaimers in tiny prints every single one!

Is it my lack of education or am I missing something?
