I started serious Investing Journey in Jan 2000 to create wealth through long-term investing and short-term trading; but as from April 2013 my Journey in Investing has changed to create Retirement Income for Life till 85 years old in 2041 for two persons over market cycles of Bull and Bear.

Since 2017 after retiring from full-time job as employee; I am moving towards Investing Nirvana - Freehold Investment Income for Life investing strategy where 100% of investment income from portfolio investment is cashed out to support household expenses i.e. not a single cent of re-investing!

It is 57% (2017 to Aug 2022) to the Land of Investing Nirvana - Freehold Income for Life!

Read? Why I won't be transferring my CPF OA to the SA

CW8888: How many people out there have really asked those who are financial and investing savvy enough why they don't transfer from CPF OA to SA?

  1. CW,

Well, I didn't transfer my CPF OA to SA precisely because of:

    1) I'm in the Earn More camp - its 开源节流; not 节流开源.

    2) I'm a fan of brick and mortar properties. If CPF does a survey of those CPF members who took CPF to buy properties as opposed to equities/insurance/bonds under CPIS, it will win hands down ;)

No one interested to play the 2 bites of the cherry, upgrade, downgrade game? It does not have to be the 2nd investment/rental unit play you know if you are very risk adverse and want to keep leverage to a minimum.

    But that's good!

Diversity is good. Especially when you know yourself and walking your own path.

Not if you "bei kambing" trying to imitate a lion... I like what Cai Haoxiang says:

"To sum up, I don't think transferring money from the OA to the SA is for most people, unless they are wealthy property-owning youths with cash to spare."

    :)

Small Thin Wallet following the saving and investing strategy of Big Fat Purse. Big Fat Purse is pursing wealth preservation as they have other means of growing their wealth. CPF SA is just their wealth preservation tool. A nice tool for them.

How many Small Thin Wallet understand and really ask around? See large number and get so excited and inspired.

  2. Alternative voices are good. I feel that he is a good writer. Got a couple of nice articles. I'm on the same camp of not transferring unless I have a LOT of spare cash. He never mention CPFIS haha but to me the key idea is flexibility. Use 2% to buy flexibility sounds good to me. Be it property downturn or market piang warchest
