True joy comes from helping others in hardship???

Read? The day when doctor brings bad news. It can happen to anyone.

"True joy I discovered comes from interaction. Over the last few months I was so down. Interaction with my loved ones, my friends, my brothers in Christ, my sisters in Christ, and only then was I able to be motivated, able to be uplifted. To share your sorrow, to share your happiness – that’s true joy.

And you know what makes you smile? True joy comes from helping others in hardship, and because I’ve gone through this, I know what hardship entails. In fact, there’re some cancer patients who tell me a lot of times, people come up to them and tell them, “Stay positive. Stay positive.” Yah, right. You come in my shoes and you try to stay positive! You don’t know what you’re talking about!

But I have the licence. So I’ve been going out to meet other fellow cancer patients, to share with them, encourage them. And I know, because I’ve been through it, and it’s easier for me to talk to them."

One woman knew it better.

True joy comes from helping others in hardship.

She heard that giving Maths tuition to primary school kids may be a good way to making small pocket money in her "growing" free time.

One day, that the opportunity did come.

One primary six girl needs Maths tuition badly to catch up for her year end PSLE.

Guess what happen???

Instead of collecting tuition fee, she ended up giving free tuition after hearing that her mother is a single parent with 80 years old Grandma living with them.

Like that how to collect tuition fee???

Beside the free tuition, she also throws in free milo and snacks during tuition as she thinks that growing up girl like her kids are often hungry before meals.

  1. I remember even now the indescribable feeling of happiness one day after a good deed. I saw a frail old lady with bags at one end of the zebra crossing while her grandchild was at the other end. I instinctively went over to hold the toddler's hand and helped him cross the road.
The appreciation and thanks by the grandmother was enough to keep me happy all day.
Today, even though I donate to charity, that feeling of happiness at 12 is still a unique experience.
Guess you really have to be hands on.

    1. Friday, Oct 26, The Straits Times,

Dr William Wan wrote, GS, Singapore Kindness Movement an article on kindness and happiness.

It was published last year in the Journal of Social Psychology, by researchers in Great Britain.

Kindness Makes You Happy… and Happiness Makes You Kind.

New research suggests that once you start doing nice things for other people, you might not want to stop.

Two recent studies suggest that giving to others makes us happy, even happier than spending on ourselves. What’s more, our kindness might create a virtuous cycle that promotes lasting happiness and altruism.

  2. "giving to others makes us happy, even happier than spending on ourselves. "

The "GoodBook" says,"‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
    Why Ah......?

Whatever is our belief in life, if we use our commonsense alone, we can actually figure out as many reasons as possible besides God's Blessings.

So even if you are an "atheist" or an "agnostic" you still have your "commonsense"
You are not entitle to do just anything you want.
    Amen.
